Why Therapy?

If you’ve found your way to this website, then you already know you need therapy.  But you may not know why.  More than likely, something about life has become unmanageable.  Often people who come in to therapy describe having had an experience of taking a good long look in the mirror and not recognizing the person they see.  They describe having lost their way or even having lost themselves.  Some find that they woke up one day and realized have been living a lie.  Some feel their lives have fallen apart and don’t know how to start over.  For others, therapy may be a way that they cope with major life transitions, stressful life circumstances, or unexplained mood disturbances.  Many people who struggle with depression know that therapy is a way that they can regain hope, clarity and peace of mind despite their negative thought patterns.

The truth is, life has a way of becoming unmanageable that is unique for each of us.  Just as we all have gifts and strengths, we are also burdened by defects of our character, traumatic experiences we have had to endure, and the fractures unmended in our hearts.  Whether our problem is with alcohol or intimacy, with self-esteem or violence, with body-image or anxiety; there IS an understandable cause AND there is a solution.  This is what therapy offers:  A retreat from the chaos and danger of living in a competitive, and sometimes frightening world.  It is a place where we can feel safe enough and supported enough to examine ourselves earnestly, and to grow, and to heal.

In the therapy room, we can lay down all of the armor we have become accustomed to putting on every morning just to face the day.  Here you will find a space has been carved out for you to be in touch with who you really are, and what really matters most to you.  My goal is to help people clear the noise and clutter that obscures their ability to know what they want, and what they must do to get it.  For some, therapy is about learning to have more connection in relationships.  For others it may be about healing from a past emotional wound that hasn’t ever gotten proper attention.  Through this process of healing, insight, and change, we find ourselves moving out of survival mode and into living the lives we now believe deep down we deserve I want to thank you for visiting my site and for taking the time to learn about what I am offering.  I hope that you were able to understand my passion for my work and for all of us who seek to make the most out of this gift of life.
